About OCLC FirstSearch databases

Access to a select group of FirstSearch databases is provided to Illinois libraries by the Illinois State Library, a division of the office of the Secretary of State.

A username/password is required to use these databases.
You already have access to FirstSearch with your local public library card. If you live near a college or university, they often give library privileges to local residents which includes remote access to many databases. Contact your local library for more information.

Most of the FirstSearch databases in the basic subscription are not full-text (Wilson Select Plus has the most full-text articles).

Following are brief descriptions of what you can expect to find in these databases. More information on how to use FirstSearch, and searching tips and strategies, is at www.oclc.org/firstsearch/using/index.htm. If you have time, take the Guided Tour.

Or, if you have the username/password, go directly to OCLC First Search and begin searching.
